Building Lines form part of the Town Planning Scheme for a property, and it is a set distance from any one of your boundaries within which no structure is allowed to be constructed (other than a 1,8m high boundary wall).
However, there are certain instances where you need to construct a certain part of your building within the predefined building line.
For the municipality to legally permit plans whereby the design encroaches the Building line, you will have to apply for Building Line Relaxation.
This involves the process of having your neighbours give their consent for the proposed building line relaxation.
*Should one of your neighbours be unwilling to give their consent, an Application for Special Consent will have to be submitted.
